Why stage your home?  You might feel that your home is beautiful and immaculate. It may be perfect to suit your personal tastes. However, it may not suit everyone’s tastes. Staging is not just decluttering and making the place neat and tidy and making minor repairs or paint touch-ups. Staging a home is a marketing approach to make your home appealing to the general buyer. This would mean that you will need to prepare yourself to detach yourself from your home emotionally.

Staging a home for sale is not a new concept. As a seller, it often provides several marketing advantages.

Eye-Catching Photographs

First and foremost, when selling your home you want potential buyers to make an appointment to set foot in your home. In most cases, the potential buyer will be looking at photos of the home before even considering to come in. Having a staged home can allow for visually appealing photos to attract and get potential buyers interested in making that appointment.

Creating a Blank Canvas

Next, when you get people interested and wanting to come in, a staged home can allow potential buyers to imagine themselves in your home. Staging means removing any personal items (e.g. family photos, trophies, etc.). A stager can recommend appropriate furniture pieces to bring in to suit the size of the room. For example, if a bedroom was left empty, a potential buyer may not be able to visualize whether or not a queen bed or only a twin can fit in there, along with a dresser or a desk. A stager will also make appropriate colour selections to appeal to the general buyer, but at the same time add subtle splashes of colour to attract and catch the eye.
